Current record is ~ 4000 feet for an air cannon based approach.
This is held in Millsboro, Delaware.

I have been going every year for 6+ years and it is definitely worth it. You see examples of amazing ingenuity, creativity and raw pumpkin chunkin power. (And pumpkin flavored funnel cake). You can't get too close to the machine, especially the big ones, and my photography skills are weak, but I'll try to get some good pictures.

Also, for reference, Millsboro is about a 2.5-3 hr drive from Philly.

Just got back. I drove down last night and spent the night in Georgetown, then showed up early (~ 8:00 am). It was pretty cold :-). The air cannons were impressive as all get out, of the couple of dozen cannon shot's I saw, I hink I saw 1 or 2 pumpkins in the air. The rest just dissapeared. I didn't stick around for the open pit section, I waw pretty tired. Because of that, I didn't get close to the Air cannons, but I did take plenty of pictures. I'll get them off the Digital camera this week and upload them to Flicker.

I went down yesterday (Sunday) with the wife and kids. It was much warmer on Sunday! Anyway, I got some good shots of the smaller human powered machines and a few movies of some of them shooting, including the huge trebuchet. I'll try and get my shots up on Flickr as well. Anybody else go?
